The fifth International FCBEscola Tournament which took place towards the end of March was a massive hit.

Organising a tournament which included over 1,200 children from 19 countries taking part in a combined total of 327 matches over four days, was no mean feat yet Iñaki Andreu, director of the amateur tournament, spoke of its huge success.

“We rate the tournament very positively. The championship continued to grow for another year at all levels such as the number of teams, players, schools and nationalities,” said Andreu.

“Both players and coaches were able to enjoy a great multicultural experience in a unique city which is Barcelona, in a tournament which has no limits and each year, with the creation of new FCBEscolas around the world, it will grow,” added Andreu enthusiastically.

Very good level

The director went on to praise the organisational side of procedings: “There are always things to improve of course, but, in general, we were praised for the organisation of the tournament by both the parents and the coaches”.

The children of the FCBEscola are taught to play the Barça way, something that was on display throughout the tournament according to Andreu:

“It was evident that the schools are implementing our methodology, our way of playing and our teams are becoming more accustomed to it.

“We have seen players of a very good level which surprised us a lot,” he concluded.
